Every once in awhile, we like to share a little about our great team here at HRI. In this article, we pull back the curtain with Al Cummings and share some of his thoughts on life. What's the one thing you can't live without? There are two things. #1 is Diet Pepsi. I’ve tried many times to quit but am guilty of repeated recidivism. #2 is I’m very addicted to my wife, Julia. I have minimal cooking skills and no interest in learning. So, life without her would be tough.
What would you like to do that you’ve never done?I would love to be a piano player and entertain myself and others. What is one thing you cannot resist?Asking a question about the subject at hand. What does your work space look like?Let’s just say, when visitors come to see me, I take them to the conference room. I have lots of ideas and interests. Yet the old adage “if you want to get something done give it to a busy person” describes me. I am a multi-tasker and I work well under pressure. When you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you pass the time?If I have the luxury of being in the right place, just closing my eyes and thinking is rewarding. What does true leadership mean to you? There are many forms of leadership. Sometimes, taking ownership of a problem or situation, asserting yourself, drawing on your reservoir or experience and knowledge; other times encouraging others who have the knowledge and need the experience to solve the problem. In my mind, that’s looking to the future by letting people underneath you gain experience. What three traits do you strive for?Treat everyone as a professional, be inquisitive, connect the dots. Do you have a favorite quote?A self-generated quote--"wish not for an easy life; wish for the abilities and resources to handle life’s challenges.” Get in Touch with Al
